May 2022

We can't wait for the Green Lab Work Conference on May 14/15. Join our talk on “Amplifying the Power of One”. Come learn how to start your Green Lab program with minimal support and leverage the Green Your Lab network to lend you a helping hand and keep you motivated.

We were very pleased to be graciously invited to speak at the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions conference - "From intentions to actions : implementing the MSCA green Charter in research projects". We could not justify the carbon footprint of flying cross-ocean, so we were very happy that the esteemed Martin Farley was able to take our place.

In addition, we spoke on the "Improving our Environmental Impact of Research Panel" for the University of Strasbourg's Environment Day. We were happy to help inspire the next generation of Green Labbers. We discussed changing your mindset and questioning existing procedures. Thank you to all the attendees for the stimulating discussion.

February 2022

We’re delighted to be invited to speak at the Trinity College Dublin’s Green Week Panel discussion about sustainable lab practices. We’ll be joined by Andrew Arnott, Green Labs Coordinator at Edinburgh University, Siobhan Gaughan, Project Manager of Molecular Parasitology Lab and Green Lab Ambassador, and Lucy Westover.

Green Your Lab was invited as a panelist at the e@UBC Human Health Venture and Climate Venture Studio event to explore the intersections of human health and climate impact, decarbonization, greening of labs, health care, and life sciences. We had some really interesting discussions and really cool to see the intersection of climate and healthcare.

We joined forces with Biology Club at the Cambridge BioMakespace to bring an interactive session and discussion to explore practical actions you can do in your lab to Go Green without compromising great research. We had a great time playing "Green Your Lab Games" together.

We provide a lecture to the University of Exeter on the 12 Principles of Green Chemistry and discussed how scientists can put the principles into practice when designing a project and in their everyday work.

December 2021

2021 was a big year for Green Your Lab. First and foremost, we need to thank all of our volunteers and everyone in our community (that’s you!) for making it so super awesome. We love how we’re rallying together to make Science more Sustainable.

Here are some of our favourite 2021 memories:

We partnered with a variety of organizations, including University of Rochester, University of Colorado, University of Delaware, University of California, Irvine, Chowan University, University of Exeter, UBC, 500 Women Scientists, NESSE, and ACS Green Chem, to host dozens of Sustainable Lab webinars on a variety of topics from “Reducing your Carbon Footprint for Scientists”, to “Setting up your New Lab” to “10 sustainable things that every lab can start doing right now”.

We were featured in a number of media outlets, such as S&P Global, Earth.org, Little DaVincis, and Pharma Technology Focus, and participated in the UK’s Great Big Green Week to share what we do with the wider public.

We hosted a variety of Happy hours and Clubhouse sessions to allow our members to meet and share advice.

And of course, we started our incredible new networking platform and our Green Lab best practices database

We’ve got lots more planned for 2022. We can’t wait to make 2022 the Greenest year yet!

November 2021

We had the opportunity to lecture at the University of Exeter on the basics of Carbon Literacy. It was a two part series, where we started with the basics of climate change and then discussing what you can do to reduce the carbon footprint of your personal life and your scientific work.

October 2021

We were interviewed by S&P Global for our take on how US Pharama giants are doing to combat the climate crisis

We also were invited by GoldBio to host a webinar on "10 sustainable things that every lab can start doing right now". We armed participants with ten practical actions they  can make to start their Green Lab journey off with impact. We give  some advice and recommendations for adopting sustainable practices that will save lab's money and improve the health and safety of the lab.

September 2021

This was an exceptionally busy month. We joined Great Big Green Week and hosted an "Interactive Webinar on Reducing your Carbon Footprint for Scientists".

We also joining forces with NESSE (Network of Early Career Scientists and Engineers) and 500 Women Scientists and to host two Happy Hour Networking Events

Dr. John Warner, the father of Green Chemistry, kindly made a personalized video to inspire our Green Your Lab members.
